Also, Steve Rogers has apparently replaced Thor in my brain. I don't even know how. | | Tuesday, May 29th, 2012 | | 11:41 pm |
Catching up on "House" - part 1
Thanks to zebra363's awesome reviews and pimping posts, I am watching the last few episodes of "House". I started with 8.16 and have seen 3 so far. A little background - I have watched "House" on and off over the years (the 'contestant arc' was brilliant!) but had to stop watching for good during the Cuddy-era, since I had my OTP (House/Wilson) and now that he was with Cuddy, well, I didn't like the show enough on its own. (Does that sound terrible? I hope not, but first and foremost, I am fannish about sci-fi. In second place is fantasy and musicals. In third place is a smart, slashy show. I don't watch sitcoms and I don't watch drama or procedural shows and even if it has exceptional writing, I usually won't stick with it. It just doesn't keep me interested enough. So, a non-slashy season of "House" just wasn't going to keep my interest.) Anyway. I may lose interest in shows but I will usually return for the final episode. Sometimes this kindles reverse interest in everything I missed (e.g. "Boston Legal"). Sometimes it doesn't ("X-Files", "Smallville"). Spoilers under the cut in case someone is doing the same as me! Ender's Game
In my continuing quest to make the most of my Commuting Time and read all those books I always thought I should, the latest was "Ender's Game". I had a vague idea what it was about, and assumed it would another one of those boring-but-good-for-me books (like Neuromancer). Nope. It was AMAZING. THIS BOOK WAS TRUE SCIENCE FICTION. The type of book that grabs your imagination and takes humanity to the stars and beyond in new and novel ways. And, oh, the pace of the book was breathtaking. It's not often that a space battle in written form can be so exciting. ETA: And the ending, oh, the ending. Only in SF can you really get away with large time jumps forward, covering huge concepts in a few short paragraphs, giving you hints of a much deeper story but yet it *works*. Loved this one. I love it when a 'modern classic' surprises me. | | Saturday, May 26th, 2012 | | 1:49 pm |

House
So I just spoiled myself like crazy to decide if I can watch the end of "House" or not. I've been holding my breath the last few weeks, hearing about the awesome House/Wilson arc, and waiting to see how it ends. Now I know. And I've made my decision. | | Monday, May 21st, 2012 | | 9:51 am |
More skating - Grand Prix assignments
Yeah yeah, Johnny got Grand Prix assignments! Russia and France, the former which will definitely make him happy! It looks like USFS is going to nice to him. I hope that he can become their new star after the fiascos with Evan last year. I'm also very excited to see who's going to be at Skate America, because that's in Kent (WA) - ridiculously close to me. I will be there for the whole competition! :D Anyone else? I'll get to see Yuzuru Hanyu and Tatiana/Maxim for the first time live. SO EXCITED ABOUT THOSE! And of course, Meryl&Charlie and Weaver/Poje. | | 12:27 am |
Tessa & Scott
So, the last few days of my life have been All About Skating (again!) because there was a Meet & Greet with Tessa and Scott that I went to, and my love for them has only grown. (Yeah, I've always had a thing for Scott Moir and now it's worse. And I know he suffers from foot-in-mouth syndrome but he really is a sweet guy and he put his arm around me for the photo and I nearly melted!) Then I went to "Stars on Ice" on Friday and it was AMAZING. :D Saturday I went out hiking, but I spent most of today watching Skating vids and reading stuff about Tessa and Scott and shipping them all over again and yeah, I really, really love Figure Skating. :D It's so beautiful, lyrical, and my favourite parts of the show were Scott Moir in a tight t-shirt dancing in front of a spotlight, and then later, when he did a jump. | | Tuesday, May 15th, 2012 | | 9:37 pm |
Glee - 3.20
What a mixed up episode. Half of it had me laughing so hard that I think I ripped one of my stitches (owwwww). But it was AMAZING. It did a trope that we all love and it did it gleefully. :p The other half of the episode had me in tears, and proved that actors who aren't always in the spotlight really can act. Intense, emotional moments. ( More specific spoilers under the cut. )So even if you've stopped watching "Glee", do yourself a favour and watch this one. | | 1:47 am |
Sometimes, I really wish my parents had let me follow my gymnastics dreams. I loved it when I was a pre-teen/young teen. To this day I still cartwheel and flip when I'm happy. And I'm sure it won't surprise any of you to learn that my favourite apparatus was Vault. Run as fast as you can, hit the trampoline, throw yourself at the horse, flip over it, and boom. Over so fast, but What A Rush! :D | | 1:09 am |
Goodbye, Payson
So that was the last "Make it or Break it". It was 25% average, 70% awesome, and there was one scene I need to erase from my brain forever. I'm gonna miss Payson (see icon) and the girls. I'm so sad this was cancelled, before we got to see them actually at the Olympics. Then again, it's been a great 3 years and I never thought this little gymnastics show would last that long. Plus, I've made some great LJ friends through this show, read a lot of *epic* fic, and found myself back in a het fandom (which hadn't happened for a long time). It is awesome watching a show about girls, and finding a female character to adore. I think that's why I loved it so much. The characters. Reaching for their dreams and not letting anything stop them, and standing by their friends. | | Saturday, May 12th, 2012 | | 12:52 pm |
Thor
Here's the thing. Thor has somehow become my favourite Avenger. ???!!! He's just so funny, and so pretty, and... Thor! ( Spoilery elaboration. )And yeah, I still love Loki (aka Johnny Weir's doppleganger) just as much. | | Tuesday, May 8th, 2012 | | 11:11 pm |
Glee - recent episodes
Spoilers below the cut, up to 3.19. Although one random comment - Lauren has totally vanished this season. :( What happened to her? This post contains reactions I never posted over the last few weeks yet I somehow managed to write out in my ’to be posted’ file. Yeah, IDK. ( Glee! )Anyway, this show has been getting better again lately. Actual continuity. Except for randomly vanishing cast members, of course. (I’m looking at you, Sugar and Rory!) | | 8:47 pm |

Avengers
Like everyone else, I have now seen "The Avengers". I don't think I have anything new or particularly insightful to add, but my brief thoughts are below the cut. ( Spoilers ) | | 8:40 pm |
All over my friendslist is : JARED SHIRTLESS IN RIO! Of course, the first picture I manage to click on is: Jared AND CLIFF SHIRTLESS in Rio. *facepalm* | | Thursday, May 3rd, 2012 | | 1:16 pm |
More Misha Love
Along with his hilarious Europe photos, he just posted this on FB: "Misha Collins BREAKING NEWS: Season 8 is official! Fun fact: If Jensen got Jared pregnant when they first met, they would have a 7 year-old." | | 12:09 pm |

Stargate Con
Yesterday was the (last) annual Stargate Con. Jewel Staite was adorable! So fun to see Joe and David (and Paul) again. Joe and David ARE their characters. Their personalities, their interactions, it is so cute to watch. I love how they are friends in real life when they shouldn't be at all, but it just *works*. |
